About this Event
A visit to the Adelaide Desalination Plant gives your students an understanding of sustainable water management and how seawater is treated to become safe, clean drinking water. Students will also learn about natural ecosystems, renewable energy, and the area’s significance to the Kaurna people, including a chance to explore the Bush Tukka Garden.
During this tour, your students take part in a 2-hour visit to the site which includes:
- a presentation and time to explore the Kauwi Centre for Water Exploration
- guided bus tour around the ADP
You may like to extend your visit and walk the self-guided Kauwi Interpretive Trail, on the outside perimeter of the ADP site and along the coast. This trail takes 30-60 minutes. Let us know when booking if you are planning to include this activity.
Visiting the Adelaide Desalination Plant – teacher’s guide
Transport:
- Buses are to be arranged and supplied by the school.
- Bus drivers are required to come on tour and transport your group through the facility. Please make sure that this made clear to the driver prior to the day of your tour. They will be required to complete a short safety induction upon arrival.
- SA Water offers reimbursement of bus hire up to 25% for regional and disadvantaged schools. This is subject to approval and is assessed on a case by case basis. For details, please contact us at thewell@sawater.com.au.
Important safety information:
- All attendees must wear flat, closed-toe shoes
- Attendees are required to wear hi vis during the site tour. Hi vis vests are provided at the Kauwi Centre.
