📅 Best Time to See Whales

December – April
Witness the incredible gray whale migration—the longest of any mammal—as they journey from Alaska to Baja California to mate and give birth.

May – November
Prime viewing season for blue and fin whales, drawn to San Diego’s nutrient-rich coastal waters.

Year-Round
Keep your eyes peeled for fin, humpback, and minke whales, as well as playful dolphins, lounging sea lions, sharks, and an abundance of seabirds.


🕒 Schedule & Check-In

  • Meeting Point: 1617 Quivira Rd., San Diego, CA

  • Arrival: Please arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour early

  • Check-In: Closes 5 minutes before departure

  • Location Tip: Look for the small gray booth between the Fish and Chips Shop and H2O Water Sports

  • Waiver: An electronic waiver will be emailed to you—please complete it in advance and confirm at the counter upon arrival


🚗 Location & Parking

  • Free Street Parking: Available along Quivira Road (recommended)

  • $5 Self-Parking: Hyatt Mission Bay lot (ask for validation)

  • Important: Avoid private lots with towing enforcement

  • Alternative: Uber or Lyft are convenient and recommended if unsure about parking


🎒 What to Bring

  • Essentials: Sunscreen, sunglasses, layers or a blanket (temps can be 10–15°F cooler on the water), and a camera

  • Footwear: Non-slip shoes recommended

  • Optional: Motion sickness medication if needed
