Step into the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter for a fun and informative cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Located in a renovated molasses warehouse dating back to the early 1800s, the school offers an introduction to the basics of Louisiana cooking led by knowledgeable professional chefs.
During this approximately 2-hour demonstration, you’ll learn how classic New Orleans specialties such as gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines are prepared. After the demonstration, enjoy a generous sampling of the dishes prepared during the class, accompanied by complimentary local beer, iced tea, coffee, and water.
You’ll also receive copies of the class recipes so you can recreate the dishes at home. Guests who submit photos of their home cooking can receive a diploma.
Please note that this is a demonstration-only class, so there is no hands-on cooking training.
Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice. After booking, call the reservations line to discuss your requirements.
For a $5 fee payable at check-in, guests can receive gumbo z’herbes (soup) and Creole z’herbes (entrée) as substitutions. These options are vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free. They are not demonstrated during the class, but they are discussed and recipes are provided.
Due to the nature of the demonstration, substitutions cannot be made to the recipes being prepared during the class. Depending on your dietary restrictions, you may be able to enjoy the soup but not the entrée. Please inform the stewards of your dietary requirements upon check-in.
