New! Black & Gold Sports History Tour (Pittsburgh)
About this Event

Embark on a tour of Pittsburgh’s storied sports history, where the City of Champions has earned six Super Bowl Rings, five World Series Pennants, and five Stanley Cups. Your guide will take you to significant sites that showcase the iconic figures and unforgettable events that have made Pittsburgh sports legendary.

Learn about the unique histories behind team names, uniforms, and the city’s rich sports traditions, such as the Pierogi Races, Terrible Towels, and the glory days of the Negro Leagues. You'll also discover Pittsburgh’s pioneering role in player safety and its significant contributions to sports culture.

Along the way, you'll visit landmarks that illustrate the city’s transformation from a frontier outpost into a vital hub for U.S. infrastructure and, more recently, a leader in AI, robotics, and biomedical research.

What to expect:

Start your tour at the iconic Roberto Clemente Bridge (Sixth Street Bridge), a landmark that becomes closed during game days, and learn about its connection to Pittsburgh’s sports scene. Visit the Roberto Clemente Statue and dive into the story of one of the greatest Pirates players in history.

You’ll pass by PNC Park, where you’ll see statues of other baseball legends, and stop at the Immaculate Reception site, the spot where one of the most memorable moments in American sports history occurred. As you walk past Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field), discover fascinating facts about Pittsburgh's football legacy.

Get to know Art Rooney, the man behind the Steelers' success, at the Art Rooney Statue, and enjoy a glimpse of another Pittsburgh icon, Fred Rogers, at his memorial statue. Relive Bill Mazeroski’s unforgettable home run with a stop at his statue.

Take a scenic walk along the North Shore Trail, where the Allegheny River offers breathtaking views of Pittsburgh’s stunning skyline.
