Blue Horse Opera is a bold, genre-blurring song cycle that fuses indie folk, classical music, flamenco dance, and cinematic storytelling into a haunting and immersive live performance.
Written and performed by Rick Maddocks, and featuring some of Vancouver’s most distinctive artists, the piece draws from the sonic palette of spaghetti westerns, the tension of the climate crisis, and the power of myth.
Expect:
Twangy guitar and luminous soprano vocals
Melancholic trumpet and percussive flamenco
Lyrical visuals and evocative storytelling
