The Museum of Arts and Design welcomes everyone to see the world through the eyes of an artist. We are located in the heart of New York City, right on Columbus Circle and just steps from Central Park and Times Square.
From the provocative to the popular, surprising, thought-provoking works of art and design are always on view, many of them carefully crafted by hand. At MAD, the creative process is an up close and personal experience.
Explore MAD’s new exhibition, Saya Woolfalk: Empathic Universe. A multidisciplinary artist, Woolfalk has crafted an ambitious sci-fi parable told through kaleidoscopic installations of imaginary ethnographic displays, as well as garment-based sculptures, video, paintings, works on paper, and performances. Within this world of plant-human hybridism, cultures mix, clash, and are ultimately transformed through shared understanding.

In addition to its four floors of exhibitions, MAD offers:
- MAD Artists Studios, creative workspaces for artists on site at the museum where visitors are welcome to ask questions, view works in progress, and gain firsthand exposure to the artmaking process. NOTE: Open studio hours are held Wednesday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- Robert Restaurant, located on the Museum’s ninth floor and offering breathtaking views of Central Park. Robert is a New York City classic destination for contemporary American fare and signature cocktails.
- The Store at MAD, where you can shop for stylish, beautifully crafted gifts for all ages and artisanal products for the home at one New York City’s most beloved museum stores.
