About this Event

Discover the rich maritime heritage of Aberdeen on this engaging two-hour walking tour through the city's historic Old Harbour. Led by a friendly local guide, you'll explore the waterfront where centuries of trade, fishing, exploration, and adventure helped shape the Granite City.

As you stroll approximately 1.5 miles through the harbour district, you'll hear captivating stories spanning from Viking settlements and notorious pirates to the bustling fishing industry and Aberdeen's transformation into Europe's oil capital. Along the way, your guide will bring the city's colourful past to life with fascinating tales of merchants, sailors, shipbuilders, and local legends.

The route begins in the historic Castlegate before continuing to the waterfront outside the Aberdeen Maritime Museum, where you'll enjoy excellent views across the harbour while learning about Aberdeen's long-standing relationship with the sea.

You'll also visit historic St Clement's Church, resting place of many generations of maritime families, before exploring the picturesque fishing village of Footdee (locally known as "Fittie"), famous for its quaint cottages and colourful gardens.
